In the last few months, many companies, from Google to Amazon, from Discord to Spotify, from Meta to game developer Naughty Dog, have made layoffs affecting a significant number of people. Microsoft, which laid off 10 thousand people last year, is taking the same step again.
Microsoft Gaming President Phil Spencer announced in a message to employees that they decided to restructure the workforce for Xbox, Activision Blizzard and ZeniMax. In this context, it was announced that 1900 people from the team of 22 thousand people will be laid off.
Stating that they made a difficult decision, Phil Spencer stated that the company will provide full support, including severance pay, to those who are laid off.
Following the dismissal statement made by the President of Microsoft Gaming, Blizzard President Mike Ybarra and Blizzard’s Chief Design Officer Allen Adham also decided to leave the company.
